Scheduler/front office staff POSITION SUMMARY This position provides transcription and secretarial services to the Cardiology Diagnostic, Echo/Vascular, Neurology and Cardiac rehabilitation departments in achieving the department objectives. SPECIFIC SKILLS NEEDED •Typing 55 words per minute. •Good communication skills. •Successfully passing Safety class. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING Required: •High School Diploma or GED. •Good communication skills. •Typing 55 words per minute. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patient's protected health information in accordance with State and Federal (HIPAA) regulatory requirements, hospital and departmental policies. 2. Ensures a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices per policy. 3. With consideration to age, employee utilizes the approved process to resolve biophysical, psychological, educational and environmental needs of patient/significant other when administering care. 4. (Applies to management positions.) 5. Transcribes dictated reports, files and distributes daily. 6. Checks in patients and creates order in the Sunrise Radiology computer program. 7. Accepts responsibility for answering phone calls utilizing proper phone etiquette and ensures that the caller is referred to the appropriate person. 8. Schedules appointments for diagnostic cardiology and Neurology departments ensuring that the proper documentation is obtained prior to making an appointment, i.e., signed prescription and/or physician's orders as well as authorization, if required. 9. Locates and gives telephone reports of examinations to medical floors, physicians and/or the physician's office. 10. Pulls charts and prepares new charts, as well as prepares and distributes out-patient schedule daily. 11. Performs all other related duties as requested by the Cardiology Director. 12. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. 13. Practices positive guest relations. 14. Attend department staff meetings and meet educational standards of the department RTO must be on the submittal! No RTO the first two weeks of an assignment **Please Note: Once RTO is submitted, this cannot be changed unless it's to cancel time requested - ensure that you have confirmed all dates needed off for the full 13 week contract
