The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Senior Electrical and Control Technician to optimize our NuSil team, delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives.  

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Bakersfield, CA facility for 3rd Shift. If you have experience in manufacturing or chemical industries' electrical systems and control panels - let's talk!

The team  

Avantor’s Biomaterials and Operations team is part of our NuSil Technology business unit. This team supports the maintenance and reliability department by helping with the maintenance and workflow of the facility. 

What we’re looking for  

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: 2-5 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• AS/AA degree preferred
• Experience with generating code preferred

The Senior Electrical and Cont r ol s Technician has a ttained or is gaining full profic i ency i n specific disciplines associ a ted with the jo b functions n oted be l ow. • Assists in install a tion of n ew equipment including conduit and wiring, building industrial equipment cont r ol pa n els, and startup testing.
• Per f o r ms t r oubles h ooting, installation, and modificat i on o f increasing l y comp l ex electr i cal and cont r ol s ystem s including but not l i mi t ed to, compo n ents such as mechanical re la ys, solid st a te relays, progr a mmable l ogi c cont r oller s , ethernet networking switches and infras t ructure, tem p eratur e control l ers, thermo c ouples, h eater s and refrigerat i on units, variabl e frequency drives, A C synch r onou s motors , motor starters, contactors , potentiometer s , t i me r s, circuit prote c tion d evi c es, and pneumat i cally and electrically driven valves.

• Wor k s f r om increasingly complex drawings, electr i cal drawings, P&ID s , blueprints, manual s and verbal/written instru c tion s on installat i on, r epair, rep l acement an d /o r mai n ten a nce o f pro c ess equipment and ele c trica l / c ontro l systems.

• Updates, modi f ies, and ge n e r ates e l ectr i cal drawings as n eeded ba s ed on r epair, up g rades, or n e w equipment d esign and imp l ementat i on.

• Wor k s c l ose l y w i th engineers, mechanics, calibrat i on technicians, and operators i n day-to-d a y operat i on, maintenan c e, a nd troubles h ooting of pla n t equipment.

• Has increasingly f amiliar i ty with o p erat i on and t r oubl e shooting of mechanical sy s tems to aid in the evaluat i on o f el e ctrica l vs othe r causes.

• Initiates purcha s e orders f or parts, equipment , and contracted serv i ces.

• Carefully app r oaches and analyzes situ a tions that cou l d directly impa c t per s onne l safety due to sensor s and equipment used to cont r ol or l i mit m a chine range of motion , speed , tempe r ature or pressure or th a t o p erate i n terlocks.

• Schedules equipment d owntime fo r repairs and upg r ades/install a tion s while working with t h e manufacturing sc h edule to minimize downt i me.
