Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, licensed Speech Language Pathology-Assistant (SLP-A) to join our team! As an SLPA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, conducting therapy sessions, assisting in assessments, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals and caregivers to ensure the best possible outcomes for pediatric patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment Assistance:

    • Assist the SLP in conducting assessments to evaluate the communication and swallowing abilities of pediatric patients.
    • Administer standardized tests and informal assessments as directed by the supervising SLP.
    • Document assessment results accurately and assist in compiling comprehensive evaluation reports.
  • Therapy Implementation:

    • Implement individual or group therapy sessions based on treatment plans developed by the supervising SLP.
    • Use evidence-based techniques and strategies to address speech, language, and communication goals.
    • Utilize specialized tools and materials to facilitate therapy activities and engage pediatric patients effectively.
  • Progress Monitoring:

    • Monitor and track the progress of pediatric patients during therapy sessions.
    • Document observations, achievements, and challenges encountered during therapy sessions.
    • Collaborate with the supervising SLP to adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and individual needs.
  • Parent/Caregiver Education:

    • Provide education and training to parents/caregivers on strategies to support speech and language development at home.
    • Demonstrate therapy techniques and exercises for parents/caregivers to reinforce in the home environment.
    • Address any questions or concerns raised by parents/caregivers regarding their child's communication or swallowing difficulties.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate effectively with the supervising SLP and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
    • Communicate regularly with teachers, physicians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of pediatric patients.
    • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and treatment planning sessions to ensure coordinated care and continuity of services.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and relevant communication with patients and caregivers.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to documentation and record-keeping in pediatric speech-language pathology practice.
  • Professional Development:

    • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in pediatric speech-language pathology.
    • Participate in professional development activities such as workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
    • Pursue opportunities for professional certification and licensure renewal as required by state regulations.
