The objective of the Risk Consultant is to devise strategies to help assist with the closing of deals as it relates to the Property & Casualty insurance of the prospective company. This involves placing the initial program at closing and managing the overall insurance program. This role provides an enhanced relationship between Virtus and client in effort to build a stickier, team-centric relationship with client.
The Ideal Candidate: •Wants to sell and do deals to help grow a book of business and win.
•Has mastered the Account Executive role and is ready to give up servicing a book + renewals to focus on new business and closing deals.
•Will assist and engage in making a better pitch to our prospects and clients.
•Is a presentation guru that can help our team build, strategically organize, and best execute our Virtus story, value and offerings.
•Has great relationship building and negotiation skills with wholesalers and carrier partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Understands the functions of both sales and service within the firm.
•View opportunities through both a "service" and "sales" lens and identify opportunities as to how the deal can be won.
•Becomes Involved earlier in the sales process so the team can vet the opportunities better and create more actionable tasks (as it relates to prospects) to move deals through the pipeline quicker and more efficiently.
•Assists producers with pre-due diligence engagement by creating and delivering prospective sales documents.
•Aggregates information to create the Due Diligence Audit, including but not limited to:
oPolicy Digest
oPolicy Review
oLoss Summary
oPlan of Action
oStewardship Plan (Service & Relationship)
•Partners with Producer, Unit Leader, and Account Executive to create a plan of action timeline (e.g., schedule the delivery meeting (2 weeks), book travel, etc.)
•Responsible for interfacing with the client, Producer, and service teams to effectively hand off the policy once bound.
•Outside of Due Diligence Audits and binding insurance, this role will need to gain an intimate understanding of the specific insurance landscape to foster more fulsome relationships with the clients to ensure that Virtus becomes the go-to insurance provider for all subsequent activity. The Risk Consultant will also develop an understanding and comfort with the risks that firms are concerned with (e.g., cyber liability, executive risk, reps & warranties, etc.)
•Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Education and Experience: •Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field and/or years of experience equivalent preferred.
•5+ years of property and casualty insurance experience. Knowledge and experience with real estate insurance preferred.
•Experience in managing a book of business is required.
•Insurance Designations or desire to complete designations a plus.
•Ability to work effectively on a short timeline and effectively meet deadlines.
•A proven problem solver that is willing to act autonomously with limited direction from supervisors.
•Must have familiarity and good working knowledge of various Microsoft software applications (Excel), Agency Management Systems, and the ability to learn new software systems.
•Position requires direct communication with clients; therefore, strong written and oral communication skills, with a commitment to impeccable customer service are required.
•Demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills. Exudes confidence and sound technical knowledge.
•Applies a solid knowledge of major insurance coverages, (including general/product liability, commercial automobile, workers' compensation, property, time element, umbrella, financial coverages, etc.), client-specific coverages and premium rating methods and audits.
•Understands the structure and content of insurance contracts and is aware of most commercial insurance coverages.

Location: Homebase Office In Overland Park, KS
Travel: Approximately 15-20% or based on client needs.
