Job Description

Translated is looking for an experienced Product Localization Project Manager to work with one of our top Enterprise clients.

The ideal candidate has experience at the Client side and the Vendor side on product E2E localization. We are looking for candidates who can learn fast and be fully up to speed with the role within the 1st, 2nd or 3rd month at the latest. The client takes care of assigning buddies and shadowing opportunities but you will learn on the job with your first assignments.

You will spend 100% of your time embedded in the client's Localization program management team and will collaborate with like-minded and high-performing Program Managers, Project Managers, and QA Managers to launch internationally. This is a full client-side role.

The role is fully remote, but the Client team has frequent and dynamic Slack communications and meets on Zoom. If you are a camera-on type of person as your first choice, you will thrive in this environment.

What will you do:

You will be first assigned to manage deliverables and assets for launches that are managed by other Localization PMs or Localization Project Managers. In your first 3 months, you are expected to know what it takes to own a launching team and own the localization success of that team end-to-end. Your time will be spent across launches that you own, and managing deliverables for launches that are owned by other team members.

Your responsibilities:

In this role, you manage the localization success of a portfolio of the client's international launches.

  • You are accountable for all localization deliverables to all requesting teams in your portfolio. You project manage the timely and accurate localization of all requested assets in collaboration with Translated.
  • You coordinate Localization QAs with the client's QA PM for every launch.
  • You proactively partner with all internal client teams and functions to deliver world-class globalized product features, community support content, and marketing campaigns that are culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate.
  • Your influence covers content, design, and internationalization: all these aspects need to be ready for the target markets. You will be an active player with the cross-functional launching teams and will bring the perspective of the world.
  • You offer your expertise to help cross-functional launching teams recognize and integrate international requirements from the start in product features and campaigns leveraging the client's network of in-country Language Managers, local Marketing Managers, and Sales Operations points of contact.
  • You advise and agree on the most appropriate localization strategy for each launch with the client's cross-functional launching teams and continuously promote best practices. You partner with the launching team PM to integrate the Localization milestones on the launch schedule.
  • You behave like an owner and entrepreneur. You are not just a point of contact that people reach out to, you are driving, you are proactive and action-oriented.
  • You ensure pertinent information is proactively communicated and understood throughout the global team and relevant product development teams.
  • You own the creation and management of high-level Localization project & program timelines.
  • You provide up-to-date visibility into large projects, and progress against our team goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Localization Program Management, helping product and marketing teams to successfully launch internationally.
  • This job is remote but needs to be carried out in Pacific Time Zone working hours. For this reason, there is a strong preference for candidates who reside in the US Pacific time zone or in time zones with low hours of difference from PST.
  • The ideal candidate has experience at the Client side and the Vendor side. Candidates with Vendor side-only experience will need to demonstrate the ability to grow in this role fast within their 3rd month at the very latest.
  • Given the remote nature of the job and the tight collaborations with the team and the client's launching teams, the client requires cameras to be on in Zoom meetings as your first choice.
  • Track record of managing and releasing complex and high-quality globalized products and marketing campaigns in partnership with core product teams, beyond just as a content translation service manager.
  • Deep knowledge of the localization process and what it takes to create product features and campaigns that can be recognized as truly local experiences by our Hosts and Guests.
  • Track record of being a self-starter, self-motivated, and outcome-oriented individual who seeks ownership and accountability.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a fluid organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Concise, fact-based, and informative. Able to convey complex information simply.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about excellence and attention to detail.
  • Thrives in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to travel to San Francisco or other locations two times/year for global in-person gatherings.
