Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts and proficiency in various accounting software. Temp to hire. Offering $33-40/hr. Located in Torrance, CA

Duties

  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, including calculating wages, deductions, and bonuses.
  • Maintain employee records related to payroll, including hours worked, leave balances, and tax information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll practices.
  • Collaborate with HR to manage employee benefits enrollment and changes.
  • Prepare reports related to payroll metrics and assist with audits as necessary.
  • Utilize financial software such as Workday or PeopleSoft for payroll processing and reporting.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide support in the implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades to existing systems.
  • Stay updated on changes in governmental accounting regulations that may impact payroll processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years proven experience as a Payroll Specialist.
  • Paycor software required advanced level
  • Advanced Microsoft Office word and excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player within the finance department.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with employees regarding payroll inquiries.
