Apex MOHS Medical Assistants are responsible for assisting with surgical procedures involving the removal of skin cancers and other skin tumors in a surgical setting as well as administrative tasks. Ideal candidates are certified in Medical Assisting This is a full-time hourly position located at one of our eleven locations throughout Northeast Ohio but does require travel.
Qualifications
Certification in Medical Assisting or Licensed Practical Nurse
Surgical or MOHS experience preferred
Experience using an Electronic Medical Records system (EMR)
Knowledge of medical terminology and experience taking vital signs
Current up to date CPR certification
Must be willing to work with a team and be able to function in a fast-paced work environment
Must be able to travel to various Apex Skin locations on a regular basis
Required Tuberculosis testing and Flu vaccination documentation.
Essential Functions
Performs initial patient assessment, evaluation, and health survey data
Provide pre-and post-optative teaching for both patient and family members
Prepping room, instruments, and patient for surgery or biopsies
Assist during surgeries by administering anesthesia, handoff instruments & cut sutures
Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining patient consent and maintaining records and documentation
Transcribes the entire visit and assures documentation of patient care is compliant.
Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments and follow-up appointments, maintaining and following up with patient biopsy results, answering phones, and scanning documents into the EMR.
Monitor and complete lab documents, biopsy and culture book, telephone encounters, and team task box within the EMR.
Maintains nursing practice consistent with OSHA, HIPPA, QA safety regulations.
Assists with autoclave procedures and quality controls.
