SUMMARY
The
Meeting and Event Sales Manager
will be responsible for seeking new social and corporate catering business while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients to meet revenue goals, with a special focus of wedding execution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major areas of responsibility and management include, but are not limited to the following:
Catering Sales
Actively prospect for new corporate and social catering business and utilize creative methods to bring awareness of the hotel through sales calls, site visits and written communication
Responsible for developing sales strategies for achieving quarterly and yearly goals
Manage all incoming inquiry calls, leads, proposals, negotiations, and contracts according to departmental procedures
Schedule and conduct site inspections and provide assistance to any walk-in clients ensuring each guest leaves with a positive impression of the hotel and brand
Use negotiating skills and innovative selling tactics to close business
Facilitate execution of all contractual agreements pertaining to social and corporate catering events, meetings, weddings and social room blocks
Ensure all contract details are accurate and entered into the sales and catering booking system and provide all necessary communication with the Event Managers on important booking details
Wedding Planning
Work directly with client wedding planner to maintain organized planning processes and timelines
Conduct and participate in wedding tastings and properly communicate with Executive Chef regarding feedback and special requests
Gather all wedding information to generate BEO and Resume details and lead BEO discussions
Produce and provide all necessary cost estimates to client while overseeing that deposit schedules are managed according to contract requirements
Execute wedding operational aspects leading up to the wedding and provide support to the Banquet team on the wedding date
Effectively communicate with all hotel departments to successfully execute the group's needs with a special attention to providing outstanding customer service from start to finish
Additional Responsibilities
Contribute to the organization as an active business partner that is responsible for supporting the company's goals, objectives, vision, mission, and values
Ability to creatively resolve guests concerns or challenges using business acumen skills and discretion
Foster a cooperative work environment with all hotel departments to provide a seamless experience to all clients and guests
Understand the overall market, ie: competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand in order to close the best opportunities based on market conditions and individual property needs
Attend local networking events to generate and maintain vendor and community relationships for referrals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ catering sales and wedding experience required; Luxury Hotel experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of food and beverage menu planning, event sales/coordination
Strong understanding of meeting room capacities, banquet set-ups, audio-visual and any other pertinent details as they relate to function room set-up
Computer proficiency and ability to work with Delphi, Opera, Excel, Microsoft Office
Ability to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers and Leadership and abide by company code of conduct; Speak, read, write and understand English eloquently
Professional appearance & demeanor with considerable strong client and guest service skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 6 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This may include traveling to and from meetings. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.
The pay scale* for
Meeting and Event Sales Manager
is $80,000-$90,000.
*The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
