Investment Associate - Intermodal Investments NYC Private Equity - Investment Management Firm J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Investment Associate - Intermodal Investments at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.
An exciting opportunity to be a key part of the growth of the firm, funds and team and will work closely with senior members of the firm to evaluate and execute on investments within numerous asset classes and across the capital structure.
This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses. To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities: Portfolio Management - Investment: Work with investment team to acquire assets and portfolio companies
- Portfolio Management: Work with PM to develop portfolio construction metrics and monitor portfolio
- Prepare Monthly Intermodal Portfolio Report
- Investor Communication: Work with ITE Management investor relations team to answer investor questions
- Valuation and Financial Management:
- Liaise with Accounting to ensure management agreement / debt compliance, including making borrowing base requests for new portfolio acquisitions
- Assist in Quarterly Valuation process
Market Research - Monitor/research industry trends in containers and broader intermodal sector
- Liaise with 3rd party market research providers to ensure ITE has up-to-date research from industry sources
- Prepare deep dive industry summaries / primers on complementary intermodal and related assets/sectors
- Ad hoc Portfolio, target company and industry analysis
Deal Management - Conduct lessee credit analysis on acquisition portfolio lessees
- Liaise with respective servicers to manage "confirmatory due diligence" process for asset purchases, including closing checklist items
- Prepare Investment Committee analyses and presentations for asset transactions
- Financial Modeling of asset transactions
The ideal candidate would have a background including :
- 1-3 years' experience in Investment Banking, Equity Research, Portfolio Management, Finance, Consulting, or Investment Management
- Intermodal Experience is a plus, NOT REQUIRED
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong Excel skills required
- Extremely detail oriented
- Ability to manage a process from start to finish with true ownership in areas that might be new to both the individual and even the firm
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to take direction but also to be independent
- Willingness to take on what's needed to support the team

Education :
Strong academic record and a bachelor's or higher degree

The salary range is $80,000 - $130,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location and applicable laws.
