Position Summary:
Join our dynamic Inpatient Coding team in a full-time, remote position that offers the flexibility to work from home. We welcome eligible out-of-state applicants to apply. Enjoy a flexible work schedule, and rest assured that all necessary hardware and software will be provided, including dual monitors, a keyboard, and a mouse. In this role, you will assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes using our advanced computer-assisted coding tools while ensuring that the appropriate coding classifications are applied for your assigned service lines.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately assign and sequence ICD-10 CM and PCS codes along with POA indicators, while identifying opportunities for queries and abstracting data based on medical record documentation for all acute care hospital patient types.
Apply official coding guidelines and relevant coding references to all inpatient coding scenarios to maintain high standards of accuracy.
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), Quality, and leadership teams to capture essential quality measures effectively.
Continuously enhance your coding knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training.
Requirements:
High School diploma or GED.
Medical Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC.
A minimum of 1 year of inpatient coding experience or 3 years of outpatient coding experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is highly desirable.
3+ years of hospital inpatient coding experience preferred.
Experience with Level I Trauma coding.
Familiarity with Epic and 3M encoder systems.
Proficiency in computer-assisted coding.
