General Description The Healthcare Informatics Specialist develops and maintains analytic reports and dashboards in support of data-driven projects across the organization. This role provides guidance in defining system and process requirements that will optimize analytics capabilities. Informatics collaborates closely with IT and with organizational leadership to align data capture and analysis with workflows and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities of the Job:
- Develops reports and dashboards from multiple data sources in collaboration with business, clinical, programmatic, and research leadership to align with strategic goals and objectives and to meet sponsor and other requirements. Works with a variety of data, such as clinical, demographic, financial, administrative, and research data.
- Develop, publish, and maintain informative and interactive data visualizations, reports, and dashboards using tools such as PowerBI or Tableau. Ensures accurate and on-time production and maintenance of scheduled and ad hoc reports and dashboards.
- Supports program teams as assigned around data preparation; data analysis using applicable statistical methods; output for presentations, reports, audits, and manuscripts; and responses to informatics inquiries. Takes ownership of, and serves as primary internal customer contact for, assigned projects. Keeps project on schedule and in scope; initiates regular updates to customer and to manager.
- Analyzes data, identifies trends, draws conclusions, and summarizes; develops tabular and graphical presentations of data for varied uses and audiences.
- Assists as assigned with administering data sets, taking responsibility for data quality, data maintenance and archiving, analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Develops and/or delivers related training and information sessions outside department.Develops and introduces appropriate self-service tools for approved users.
- Participates as assigned in testing of new applications, changes, and upgrades; develops and performs test scenarios; participates in training.
- Participates as assigned in data governance and data integrity activities. Supports the establishment, maintenance, and use of standard data definitions, consistent report design, task prioritization, etc.
- Creates and maintains documentation of all work, queries, data definitions, report schedules, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel including VBA.
- Advanced programming, statistical language, and data visualization skills (e.g., SQL, Power BI/Tableau, Python, SAS, R) required.
- Database management experience and expertise required.
- Experience and expertise using EHR, ERP/financial, revenue cycle, pharmacy information system, and/or TPA data sources preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree required. Fields such as informatics, data science, statistics, actuarial science, public health, epidemiology, experimental/quantitative psychology, public or health policy, health services research, information science, or computer science are particularly relevant.
- Education and/or experience in a clinical (e.g., nursing, allied health, psychology, social work) or scientific field preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience required.
