Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with UDC's mergers and acquisitions (M&A), human resources, and operations teams on strategic projects, leveraging your rigorous attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, proactive problem-solving abilities, and capacity to work independently while delivering timely and accurate results. This position is based in the greater New York area, with a combination of remote work and occasional in-person meetings with the accounting team, also located in the New York metropolitan region.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses as required.
  • Conduct ad-hoc reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies or irregularities in financial data.
  • Cross-train with accounting department members to provide coverage for other tasks as needed.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of financial transactions and records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and alignment regarding financial processes and requirements.
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by Junior Accountants.
  • Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring bank balances, cash requirements, and resource planning.
  • Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's targets.
  • Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures that support the achievement of the company's goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage processes, identify problems, and recommend effective solutions, with strong research capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a client-focused approach to both written and verbal communication.
  • Extensive experience in reconciliation and month-end closing processes.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be located in Atlanta, Georgia or New York, New York.
