Job Description

Cross Company uses email marketing as our primary way to communicate directly with our customers to generate additional revenue. We have a large database of professional email contacts whom we strive to educate on all parts of the business in order to drive sales leads. In our small (but deadly!) marketing team, we have an immediate need for an email marketing specialist to look after the day-to-day email creation, execution, and reporting on digital communications through email marketing. In the long term, we would like this new associate to move into technical content creation: writing case studies, white papers, technical documents, and other B2B external communication in addition to their email duties.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing effective email marketing campaigns, creating compelling content, and strategically segmenting our audience. Proficiency in Active Campaign is a plus as you will be leveraging its capabilities to drive engagement, nurture leads, and optimize our overall email marketing strategy.

The email marketing specialist will be expected to constantly innovate strategic communications, combining both best practices and unique ideas to drive lead generation through email content. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of email marketing best practices and a proven track record of delivering successful email campaigns. To succeed in this role, you need to be creative, analytical, self-driven, and a team player.

To achieve our future vision of this role, we will need a candidate with a passion for writing and proven experience with B2B content creation or technical writing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Relevant years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • At least 3 years of proven work experience in email marketing, creating high-impact, unique marketing campaigns.
  • Experience and proficiency with marketing automation/email automation technology. Cross uses Active Campaign but experience with Hubspot, Pardot, Marketo, Klaviyo, or another email marketing software is acceptable.
  • Experience writing technical articles, playbooks, product documentation, or other B2B communication and a passion for the written word. Writing samples will be required for application and there may be a writing assessment during the interview process.
Essential tasks
  • Plan, create, and execute high-quality email campaigns that drive customer engagement, conversions, and revenue growth while aligning with overall marketing objectives and sales goals
  • Using digital marketing automation and B2B email marketing best practices to increase engagement and generate leads through delivery of personalized, timely, and tailored communications specific to our customer’s needs.
  • Manage the end-to-end email campaign process, including list segmentation, scheduling, testing, deployment, and performance tracking
  • Collaborate with the rest of the marketing team as well as our sales groups to create compelling and personalized email content, including newsletters, promotional offers, product updates, events, educational invitations, etc
  • Develop and maintain email marketing content calendar for planned email marketing campaigns
  • Implement A/B testing strategies to optimize email subject lines, content, layouts, and calls-to-action. Continuously refine and improve the email marketing program by testing new approaches, tools, and techniques
  • Ensure compliance with relevant email marketing laws, regulations, and best practices, including CAN-SPAM
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and the competitive landscape in email marketing, to include exploring and recommending new tools or campaign strategies
  • Be an active marketing team associate, able to jump in and help with anything that needs to be done
  • Be proactive in proposing and executing new and established marketing tactics which will increase the number of marketing-generated leads
