Description:

The Minnesota Judicial Branch (MJB) is pleased to announce an opening in the Court Services Division for a full-time, temporary Court Payment Center Clerk (through March 31, 2025) with the MN Court Payment Center.

Staff in the MN Court Payment Center initiate citations received from law enforcement and provide telephone and email support to court customers statewide. This position will provide data entry of electronic and paper citations that are filed by law enforcement and email support.

Examples of job Duties:

The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform, acting under the direction of the MN Court Payment Center manager, supervisor, or lead worker.

  • Follows established data entry standards to initiate cases from paper citations or an electronic data set.
  • Quickly, accurately, and consistently initiate cases in the courts case information system (MNCIS) from citations filed by law enforcement.
  • Other data entry and administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school, or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of professional office experience, including data entry.
  • Access to reliable, high-speed internet capable of successful remote access to the Judicial Branch network.
  • Ability to attend in-person new employee orientation and training session.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to expertly navigate a personal computer, using multiple applications concurrently.
  • Ability to learn the software applications used at the MJB and the MN Court Payment Center.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential cases appropriately and in compliance with all applicable court rules, policies, and statutes.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs, case types, or service delivery methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Desire to work in an inclusive, multi-cultural environment that values diversity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other, including coworkers and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience in a related field.
  • Experience working with the courts Case Information System (MNCIS).

Salary:

The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $21.43 - $26.27 per hour ($44,746-$55,851 annually). The full salary range for this position is $21.43 - $31.10 per hour ($44,746-$64,937 annually). This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.

Position Logistics:

This position is classified as a Court Payment Center Clerk and will work normal business hours, Monday-Friday. The position is an unrepresented, temporary assignment that is expected to last until March 31st, 2025.

  • Work will be conducted remotely from a home office in Minnesota. Training will be conducted in person at the MN Judicial Center in St. Paul, MN and remotely.
  • This position requires the ability to sit for the majority of the day and perform a significant amount of repetitive data entry.
