We are seeking a proactive and strategic Communications Specialist to support Peers’ communication and outreach efforts. This role will be responsible for policy documentation, content creation, and developing an outreach strategy that enhances understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, equal opportunity, and civil rights. The ideal candidate will be skilled in written and digital communication, outreach, and stakeholder engagement.

General Duties:
• Policy Document Review and Editing:
o Perform, review, and edit policy documents, reports, and analyses to ensure consistency with agency guidelines and policies.
o Write, review, and edit documents on a daily basis as assigned.
• Outreach Strategy and Mission Support:
o Research and establish outreach strategies that support Peers’ mission, policies, goals, and impacts as a technical expert.
o Develop and manage an outreach program leveraging all available platforms to increase awareness and share information with diverse stakeholders.
• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advocacy:
o Create content to enhance understanding of DEI, equal opportunity, and civil rights for both external and internal audiences, including awardees, grantees, and other organizations.
• Content Creation and Digital Platform Oversight:
o Develop and distribute content across written and digital platforms, managing contributions from both internal and external writers.
o Organize, analyze, and present information, including analyses, speeches, briefing materials, reports, and formal replies to correspondence.
• Stakeholder Communication and Outreach:
o Communicate with a full range of stakeholders, including grantees, awardees, and professional societies, to disseminate information about programs and initiatives.
o Participate in outreach activities such as conferences, workshops, webinars, and forums to increase program visibility.
• Data Collection and Analysis:
o Gather relevant statistical and narrative data from various sources and apply analytical techniques to identify patterns and trends.
o Serve as the primary liaison for the office’s communication tools, ensuring consistent use and integration across platforms.
Qualifications:
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of experience, OR no degree with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in communications, outreach, public relations, or a related role.
• Technical and Analytical Skills:
o Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media, and data analysis techniques.
o Strong writing and editing skills, with experience creating content for diverse audiences.
• Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills:
o Exceptional organizational skills with attention to accuracy and consistency in reviewing policy documents and reports.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Presentation Skills:
o Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
o Ability to present information and analyses in written, visual, or oral formats.
