JOB TITLE: Cath Lab Technician
DEPARTMENT: Cath Lab
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Knowledgeable of cardiac anatomy and physiology, invasive cardiovascular practices/techniques/pressures, EKG analysis and emergency protocols. Assists the cardiovascular physicians in performing diagnostic cardiac and diagnostic/interventional peripheral procedures. Demonstrates the ability to use a variety of complicated/advanced equipment, monitors, devices and supplies. Provides all aspects of care for the cardiovascular patient, including pre-op assessment, procedural, and post-op recovery. Knowledge of cardiovascular disease and the potential hazards associated with invasive cardiovascular procedures. Must possess the ability to cross train within the procedural environment. Obtain proficiency in a minimum of two roles, including but not limited to, circulating, monitoring, and scrubbing. Demonstrates the ability to operate all holding and procedure room equipment safely and correctly. Adheres to established standards and procedures. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for patient care in cardiovascular lab. Pre-operative preparation includes obtaining informed consent, labs, procedural orders, history and physicals, vital signs, preparation of invasive procedural site and EKGs.
Post-operative includes documentation of information, vital signs, teaching, insertion site assessment and sheath removal. Use of vascular closure devices per department policy, applying vascular pressure, monitoring, and alerting physicians to changes, documenting and reporting to transferring nursing units.
Preparation of sterile procedural setups. Adhering to sterile technique in all procedures. (patient, equipment, and supplies)
Responsible for proper image acquisition, archival and image processing specific to procedure type.
Able to assist in minor troubleshooting of minor equipment repair in lab. Stocks supplies, instruments, and equipment according to storage allocations. Alerts and notifies manager of equipment/supply concerns or problems with operational performance.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of cardiovascular technology or radiography, or background knowledge and skill set in cardiovascular patient care. Interpretation of EKGs and hemodynamic pressure tracings.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one to two years of experience
PAY RANGE: $40-$60hr to start (dependent upon experience)
SIGN ON BONUS: $5K - $15K
